while i’m not “officially” attending sxsw(meaning i likely won’t see much of whats on the showcase list live…) i’m still so excited that i’m already listening to showcase bands i know i like and myspacing new bands i know nothing about other than their name and origin…
this got me wondering…has technology caused some of the indie festival “magic” to be lost with the ability to create a festival game plan months in advance, share online schedules w/ friends and strangers or myspace any band in seconds for a quick trial listen?
while i rarely stick to my original schedule during a multi-day festival, by game-planning for a festival, do I risk losing that excitement and high of hearing a great band i don’t know the name of, wasn’t expecting to see and never knew existed before?
