sxsw2010 random thought: has technology caused...
while i’m not “officially” attending sxsw(meaning i likely won’t see much of whats on the showcase list live…) i’m still so excited that i’m already listening to showcase bands i know i like and myspacing new bands i know nothing about other than their name and origin…
this got me wondering…has technology caused some of the indie festival...

unsolicited advice: asking people to...
keep it short enough if requesting others to retweet - people are less inclined to RT@Yourmomma if they have to spend time editing and abbreviating your message while driving or at work
if requesting someone to tweet/blog about an event, send a link to your do512/facebook/whatever upfront…listing all the details.

unsolicited advice: using the term "free alcohol"...
over the last year most of us witnessed standards being raised (and at times ignored) at events with “free alcohol”. since they are frequent and heavily attended, it’s not really a surprise that sometimes they can attract the wrong attention ( evidence a / evidence b ).
there is no risk of the free fun ending into 2010 (psst sxsw around the corner)..but i think the below advice...

i'm usually embarrassed to see or hear new gay...
many times the music is just dull. i often times feel like someone behind the scenes is thinking they can just rehash some old shit but with a gay spin and hit the jackpot in some niche genre.
really i feel the same way about a lot of non-gay music too…it just bothers me more with the gay artist… in particular when they are promoted as “a gay [staightedge/punk/rock/etc] band...
