While i was a bit drunk, i’m pretty sure the DJ last week for TuezGayz Presented by The Glitoris dropped my favorite The Shoes remix of Late of the Pier’s Focker.
The first time i heard this ear candy, i instantly fell in love with the french duo and could regularly be spotted driving around town dancing in my car while looping the shit out of their mixes.
Their EP ‘Stay the Same’ is out “soon” with some tracks featuring our favorite ‘Esser’ and ‘Das Racist’… i’m not familiar with ‘Das Racist’ but maybe you caught him during sxsw2010?

just like a distant family member, i started scavenging the assets of ‘The Internet’ as soon as i heard news of its death. Besides coming across a shit load of weird porn (‘The Internet’ must of been a freak! I bet it took a lot of good stories to it’s grave) i happened to notice ‘My First Earthquake’ just released their 2ND EP CRUSH…
my assumption is MFE was anticipating our mutual friends death also, so instead of going through the whole iTunes hassle, they’re just giving the shit away for free (or at least until the burial of ‘The Internet’)…

Allah-o-Akbar
ever since the rigged elections i’ve had a weird obsession about keeping up with the social movement slowly developing in iran. every few weeks i find myself up late at night googling and youtubing hours of protest videos that for the most part, i can’t even understand. after i get my fix of the nightly Allah Akbar shouts from building tops and grainy videos of protest clashes, i move on in search of music and culture… thats when i found “No One Knows About Persian Cats”.
this gem of a film highlights the challenges Iranian hipsters face in the underground music scene where simple jam sessions come with the risk of a prison term… fictional story with fictional bands but definitely worth the watch… the film is public domain and in native persian… if you’re into it here’s a streaming link w/ english captions…
